Ken looks at incidents in the life of Daniel to see how he made good choices and how each good choice helped him make the next.
One prophet is honored in the palace of kings while at the same time another is persecuted in a doomed city. Would either be right to complain about that? But don’t we often do so about far less? Nope. You be faithful. Jesus one time even replied, “What is that to you?” when someone asked about another’s circumstance.
An introductory lesson to examine the concept that many great Biblical truths are presented in a great variety of ways because they are often too great a concept to be simply explained.
We continue to look at Christ’s commendations, this time for those who demonstrated great faith.
As we look at more of the beatitudes in revelation, we see that blessed are those who wash their robes in the blood of the lamb and who keep their robes.
While we can think of the few times that Jesus was harsh and censorious, He was as, or even more often, complimentary. He knew the power of words and used them well.
Some of God’s prophets served Him for a lifetime, and a long life at that. Let’s think about a couple of them.
Various things in life make us more or less anxious. Jesus asked why, if we say we trust in God, we are anxious at all.
John’s third letter is another short one. He tells his beloved friend to recognize who is doing right and who is doing wrong. Then going those who do right, and stand up against the wrong, even though it’s going to be difficult.
The famous beatitudes are spoken by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. Yet there are just as many beatitudes in the book of Revelation. In this sermon, we examine two of them. “Blessed is the one who reads…” and “Blessed is the one who hears and heeds…” to see what blessing come to them and why.
The Bible tells of many calamities the befall people. We briefly look at some and see so often there are obvious warning signs and opportunities to avoid it.
We make our study of John’s little letter to a friend about the need to keep on in love, in the commandments and to not support those who don’t follow along with the truth the apostles taught.
A study of the instruction and implications of Her. 12:14: “Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord.”
Our study of 1st John concludes as we look at confidence to ask in prayer, especially for others in sin, the assurances God gives us, and a final warning about idols.
Beginning in Ps. 103, we look at the blessing of forgiveness. We examine some poor substitutes for it, how the law pointed out how serious sin was, and end with the blessedness of true forgiveness in Christ.
A brief look at how Old Testament Israel finally rid itself of idols, and how Christians dealt with it when they preached the gospel to those who worshipped them.
As John begins to close out his epistles, he calls on the witnesses of the water and the blood, the Spirit and the Father that testify to Jesus, the Son of God come in the flesh and gives eternal life.
John begins to wrap up his epistle by reminding us how how to know we are in the truth faith in Christ, and the assurance of victory if we are.
Groundhog’s Day came to use by a circuitous route that includes pagan rooted practices and a middle age Catholic tradition of helping the poor. What important lesson can we learn from this?
Those in Christ are invited to the greatest feed of all time — the wedding supper of the Lamb. Are we preparing for it?
