Peter tells his Christian audience that the have to leave behind the bad (and often mean) habits that they had learned in the world and grow in the things of salvation.
In a previous less we studied the faithfulness of the prophets, often under trying circumstances. This great faithful service was to God, but Peter affirms that we are the true beneficiaries of it. What did they do that helped us so much? They told us so much about Christ.

When we study the prophets we should learn what faithful service looks like and that mercy and compassion are the outcome of the Lord’s dealings. At least that what the apostle Peter said about it.

By nature, children are a lot like their fathers. We are to purposefully and reverently conform ourselves to God our heavenly father in all our behavior.
Peter tells Christians that the prophets were serving us when then they foretold the Christ. They wanted to know about Him and made careful search and inquiry about the things freely made known to us.
Meekness, or gentleness, is a part of the fruit of the Spirit. In this study, we look at Jesus and Moses as examples of the kind of meek and gentle we should be and make some applications of it.
Christian sometime face difficulty due to their faith. Peter told us to greatly rejoice when this happens. How and why can we do this?
Peter begins his first letter with praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. How appropriate. And how appropriate that we join in the same.
Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). But what exactly if faith? It is based on reason, contrary to what many thing, and as an active trust based on knowledge and assent of the truth of God.
The Hebrew writer quoted the Psalmist who reference Moses who said, “Hear the voice of God today.” We look at the development and application of this instruction and see what we should be hearing from God today.
Jesus twice referenced a the prophecy of Isaiah 61, once in a full quotation, the other paraphrasing, about preaching the gospel to the poor as an indicator of His Messiahship. His nearly supernatural concern for the poor should inform our outlook on the world today.
An encouragement for us all to not grow weary while traveling day by day on the slow path to holiness.
